fallout from the terrorist attack in benghazi, libya. here are the latest developments. the republican congressman darrell issa says he has subpoenaed the secretary of state kerry to testify on the benghazi attack at a may 21st hearing. issa has led the house oversight committee investigation. now a source telling our own dana bash that house republican leaders have decided to form what's called a select committee to investigate benghazi. the latest fallout stems from white house documents just disclosed this week. for more on the benghazi fallout, let's bring our chief political analyst gloria borger. the benghazi issue didn't come up at the news conference the president just had. but it is clearly not going away. republicans, especially in the house, are trying to escalate the matter. >> because they think it's a good political peg for them to use against an administration they would say is secretive and tried to cover up what really occurred in benghazi. you've heard the white house defense on this, wolf. they've said this e-mail that was just released from deputy national security

the health care act. the situation in libya was a tinderbox. those brave people who volunteer to work for our safety and our security understood this. it is not the same thing as i'm not a crook. it is not the same thing as aluminum tubes and mushroom clouds. this is always a risk area when people go into a country to try to make peace or solve problems in a dysfunctional government and people are rebelling. yes, that film did have something do with it and there was coverage of it. it was two weeks in the new york times and the washington post that showed that it was already a very dangerous situation and this horrific, and moronic film that came out that degraded their god and their religion was all it took for them -- from situation to explode. i think it is time for us to move on and stop with the distractions and all of the division because that is what this party always does. they point the finger at the women, fear the enemy. upon the finger at the minority, they're are the enemy. they want to divide us. we have to start thinking for ourselves and realize that if we don't come together

critical of president obama's foreign policy, particularly in libya because africa daffy fell, -- after qadhafi fell, we did nothing to secure the country. senator mccain and a couple of others and myself, senator rubio, went in 2011 to libya and we said in an op-ed piece if we don't get rid of these militias, libya is going to become a safe haven for terrorists. and you have got to understand this about the benghazi consulate -- it had been previously attacked in april of 2012. the british ambassador had been attacked in june of 2012. the british closed their consulate. the red cross closed their office because they had been attacked, and we have got email traffic coming from libya to washington at the state department level saying in august -- saying on august 16, we cannot secure the benghazi consulate from a coordinated terrorist attack, and al qaeda flags are flying all over benghazi. what they did not want you to know was the consulate in benghazi was very unsecured, everyone else had left the town and that the numerous requests for security enhancements going back for months had
